In February of 2011 both of our CFP&SM Physician Assistants, Jennifer and Jude, traveled to the Dominican Republic to offer their medical services to aid those in need. Since starting with CFP&SM they have been involved in volunteer service work to both the Dominican and to Haiti through “Hands of Hope NC”. “Hands of Hope” is a North Carolina based medical mission organization whose mission is to improve the health and well-being of those less fortunate and in need.
Barahona is located in the southwest coast of the Dominican Republic with a population of over 260,000. During the course of the week, this Winston-Salem based team treated 583 patients from the surrounding villages and bateys and preformed surgery on 69 patients in the local hospital in Barahona. This effort is at no cost to the people of Barahona. “Hands of Hope” has played an integral part in improving the health and well-being of the people of Barahona. We thank Jennifer and Jude for their generosity in giving of their time and talents making the most recent trip a successful one.
Please enjoy the short video they complied from pictures taken during their recent trip.
