Dr. Hennion attended Duke University for his undergraduate education and then medical school at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, MD.  He completed his residency in family medicine at the Dwight David Eisenhower Army Medical Center in Augusta, GA.  He later completed a primary care sports medicine fellowship through the National Capital Consortium at Fort Belvoir, VA; during which he served as an assistant team physician for George Mason University.  Dr. Hennion completed a 21 year career in Army medicine providing primary care to Soldiers, family members and retirees; as well as serving as a team physician for the United States Military Academy in West Point, NY and the University of Hawaii.  He also held a variety of key leadership positions through his Army career to include 25th Infantry Division Surgeon, Command Surgeon for US Forces Afghanistan and Family Medicine Department Chief at Darnall Army Medical Center in Fort Hood, TX.  Dr. Hennion also holds a certification as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist.

As a family medicine and primary care sports medicine physician, Dr. Hennion is committed to providing comprehensive, quality, evidence-based primary care for all ages.  He employs a patient-centered approach with a focus on the physician-patient relationship, treating the whole person with a goal of maintaining an active lifestyle.  He cares for acute and chronic medical conditions, provides routine health maintenance and screening examinations, always with a focus on health and wellness and a goal of knowing and treating the whole family.  With the additional sports medicine training, he provides care for non-operative musculoskeletal conditions, concussion, and pre-participation sports physicals, as well as ultrasound guided joint and tendon procedures as clinically indicated.  Dr. Hennion’s goal is to help you achieve your personal best, regardless of what field you are in or on.

Upon completion of his career in military service, he moved to Apex, NC with his wife and 3 children.  Dr. Hennion has a passion for all forms of cycling, triathlon, and water sports.  He also enjoys exploring local hiking trails with his family, finishing the hike with a trip to enjoy a new local brewery.
