Dr. Stephen Peterson joined Carolina Family Practice and Sports Medicine in August 2019 and is accepting new patients in our Raleigh office. He is the team physician for Panther Creek High School.
Dr. Peterson is originally from Wisconsin. He did his undergraduate work at Bethel College in St. Paul, Minnesota. He attended medical school at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, WI. From there he went on to residency at Miami Valley Hospital in Miami, Ohio. He did his sports medicine fellowship through Wright State University and Franciscan Medical Center.
Dr. Peterson uses musculoskeletal ultrasound as a clinical tool to perform various joint injections. A large part of his practice for over 20 years has been the clinical treatment of concussions.
Dr. Peterson is married to an OB/GYN physician and has six children – four boys and two girls. He enjoys playing hockey, scuba diving, and traveling. He has been on several medical mission trips – including three trips to Haiti.
