We are excited to announce the addition of Dr. Julie Amendola in the fall of 2025.  She is accepting new patients in the Cary office.

She attended undergraduate at the University of Iowa then went on to complete two separate Masters’ Degrees – one in Applied Sport Psychology from Bangor University in Wales and a second in Interdepartmental Medical Science from Drexel University.  Dr. Amendola went back to the University of Iowa for Medical School.  She then completed her Family Medicine Residency at East Carolina University and her Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship at Duke University.

Dr. Amendola’s approach to healthcare is patient centered. It is important to understand patients’ goals, so treatment decisions are aligned with their desires. She strives to be a supportive presence for her patients and address their health concerns and illness within the broader context of each patient’s life. She sees patients in all walks of life; athletes, the general active population and individuals who are looking to become more active. Through interactions, Dr. Amendola hopes to promote life-long wellness by encouraging movement and preventing and managing disease.

Dr. Amendola chose Family Medicine as a specialty because she feels it is rewarding to be able to treat a broad population and spectrum of health. As she has been active in various sports throughout her life, she also has an interest in Sports Medicine focusing on keeping her patients doing the activities they love, which motivated her to pursue a fellowship in Primary Care Sports Medicine.

Dr. Amendola has specific interests in ultrasound-guided injections, relative energy deficiency in sports, female athlete health and lifestyle medicine.

Dr. Amendola’s family loves to be active together.  She grew up playing a lot of sports- soccer, golf, figure skating, snowboarding to name a few. Recently she has started more dedicated Olympic weightlifting and had the opportunity to participate in a local competition. She also enjoys being involved in the community, going to farmers markets and trying various restaurants.
