Over the next few months, Carolina Family Practice & Sports Medicine is continuing to roll out some exciting and innovative improvements to facilitate the highest quality of care for our patients.  We recognize that some of these changes have caused inconvenience and frustration at times.  Thank you for your understanding and patience in this process.  This notice is designed to provide an update as we undergo preparation for the final phases of these changes.

Below is a timeline of what to expect in the next several months:

June 3:  Lab change in Holly Springs.  Effective today, June 3, we will no longer offer in-house laboratory services at our Holly Springs location.  While this was a difficult decision to make, ultimately moving away from lab on premises was a decision we could not avoid due to our upcoming transition to MaestroCare.  We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience that this has caused you, our valued patients.

A LabCorp Patient Service Center is located approximately two miles from our Holly Springs office at 104 Bass Lake Road, Suite 100 (from CFPSM take Rosewood Centre Drive to N Main St. Turn right on Main St. and continue for 1.6 miles.  Turn left on Holly Springs Road and continue for 0.6 miles. Finally, turn right onto Bass Lake Road and LabCorp will be on your right).

Lab appointments for the Holly Springs Patient Service Center can be made by calling 855-277-8669 or by visiting http://www.labcorp.com and selecting “schedule an appointment.”

June 10: Lab change in Raleigh. Effective Monday, June 10, a LabCorp phlebotomist will be on site in our Raleigh office to service our patients.  This is a temporary solution for lab services in Raleigh and we will keep you updated of permanent plans once they become available.

June 17: In Cary, laboratory services offered simply transition from Quest Diagnostics to LabCorp.  On-site services will continue.

June 22: Launch of Maestro Care…Single state-of-the-art electronic health record

  • Maestro Care: This technology enables seamless, real-time, secure communication among all members of your care team, at any of our locations, as well as Duke-affiliated and referring physicians.  Maestro is part of EPIC electronic health record, the largest, most robust and most widely used system in North Carolina and the US.

June 22:  MyChart… Patient Portal

  • MyChart On-line Patient Portal.  This will allow you to :
    • Request a prescription refill.
    • Send a message to your health care team about any non-urgent needs.
    • Download a summary of your medical information, including immunizations, diagnoses and allergies.
    • In the future, you will be able to get mobile access to your account with the MyChart App, available on iPhone and Android devices.

August 2013:  Implementation of a new Phone system

  • New Phone System:
    • During our transition, we recognize there have been difficulties with longer wait times on phones.  We are implementing a new phone system and are also currently adding multiple new staff members.  Coupled with Maestro Care and MyChart, we expect this new phone system and additional staff to improve to provide improved access, communication, and timeliness.

As always, our top priority remains providing highest quality care to you and your family.  We remain committed to evidence-based, compassionate care to all of our patients and feel strongly that these changes will provide a comprehensive IT platform for many years to come.  Thank you for your patience and understanding during this transition.
