Kristen Clarey, MD

In July 2010, CFPSM welcomed Dr. Kristen Clarey to the practice.

Dr.  Clarey has spent most of her life in North Carolina. She attended Chapel Hill High School and then attended college at the University of Richmond. At Richmond, she was captain of the women’s soccer team and an Academic All-American. Dr. Clarey was named the University of Richmond student-athlete of the year her senior year. During high school and college, she played semi-professional soccer for the Raleigh Wings. She went to University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Medical School and completed her Family Medicine Residency at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, NC. She served as chief resident and was also voted most outstanding 2nd year resident. Dr. Clarey then completed the Sports Medicine Fellowship at Moses Cone. She has presented at national sports medicine meetings and is published in sports medicine journals and texts.

Dr. Clarey has a passion for sports medicine but also enjoys women’s health, general family medicine, and office procedures including diagnostic ultrasound.

Her leisure activities include running, skiing, playing recreational soccer, and spectator sports. She also enjoys spending time with her husband Tim, a financial specialist, their two dogs and three children.
